Today I set out early and packed leather shorts for a different look. The tide was not as low as it could have been, but it was low enough for what I had planned. Of course, nothing ever goes exactly to plan, but this trip was pretty close to clockwork.
I killed some time, catching minnows to use as bait, before the tide was all the way out. Then I killed more time, trying to catch a fish, while making my way to the chosen sinking spot. Once I arrived at the mud, I had to change into my leather shorts and figure out how I was going to shoot an interesting video.
Once I got into the mud and started shooting, I tried to keep it interesting. I moved the camera a few times, I changed positions a lot, and I rubbed myself often. When the tide started coming back in, I got out and got some video of the preliminary cleanup.
After getting most of the mud off and changing back into my fishing clothes, I went back to fishing. The tide was coming in fast and the fish were jumpy. I tried a couple different lures, and I got lucky and landed a pretty good sized flounder. That was enough for dinner, so I paddled on back to the car and headed for home.
It was another nice day, I got close to an hour of mud play, and I caught fresh fish for dinner. One can’t ask for much more. I suppose it would have been nice to have had a partner with whom to share the trip, but then I would have had to catch another fish!
