Today I went into the Croatan National Forest for a hike, and also to explore some swampy areas that could provide places for future videos. They are surrounded by poison ivy, but there is a small stream for cleanup, so maybe I can avoid the poison ivy enough that a prompt rinse in the creek will stave off an infection.

Hello Doug…
Looking forward to this Vlog.
The final edit was around 4 minutes. Probably too long to post here, but not interesting enough to sell. It will probably languish in obscurity forever.
I’m thinking of turning this web-site into a single page of links, anyway. I edit and post my notes, images and videos for my followers and it doesn’t seem to matter. I get more attention when I post something on Twitter.
I will archive the site, but it will still be sad to take 12 years of history off-line.
That would be very sad to do – I guess it’s because your loyal band of followers here is a very *small* band of followers 🙁
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I make clips for my loyal band of followers, but nobody seems to really care about my blog, and that is just an extra effort that I make to document my trips and advertise videos. People can follow me on C4S and/or Twitter. If I stop blogging here, I will probably make more use of Twitter.
I could be wrong, but the blog just doesn’t seem to be of much interest to potential customers. I can see from my logs that lots of people visit my blog and watch the free videos, but the ratio is about 1000 video downloads to 1 clip sale. If I didn’t count my regular purchasers, the ratio would be more like 10,000 to 1. That is hardly worth the time that goes into maintaining the blog and the bandwidth it uses (about 24GB/month the last time I looked).
