First of Summer Update

Posted by on June 21, 2023

Today is the first day of summer. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the wilderness; although not so much in the swamp, since the tides have been unworkable for mud. I still have a few videos to edit and release, but I haven’t been editing much. It’s easier for me to shoot because I can do that while I’m out where I feel most at peace. I guess I’m just a lonely old man, hoping I’ll eventually find that spot where the ground swallows me and I’m never heard from, again.

The images I used for this blog entry are frames from some video I shot last night (June 20) in the forest, just before sunset. I was exploring some very interesting looking marsh. Sadly, I didn’t find anything deeper than knee deep. It was also getting dark, so the video is pretty dark. I do like the look of the swamp in the waning light, but a little more light would have been helpful for shadow detail.

I suppose it’s worth mentioning that I was wearing a new pair of cutoffs that fit me really well. Unfortunately, they make me look fat. 😉 I swear I haven’t been putting on weight, and all my adventures have been helping me stay fit.

I sure hope you all are doing better than I am. I’m afraid, when I find that mud hole that swallows me, I won’t be around to share it with you. I’ll try to put up some more of this year’s videos before I go.

    Hello Doug…

The marsh you found (and in the photos) sure looks like great stuff for some wallowing and crawling around and loosiing your trunks or briefs or cutoffs and enjoying the liquid mud/peat. Suggestive photos…to be sure.

I’m afraid the photos might be a little deceptive. The surface is mostly floating organic matter on top of some water with about 6 inches of mud on the bottom. I was disappointed, because I had flagged this spot on previous hikes as having great potential, but it is really only good for a suspenseful swamp drama.

The previous area I explored has deeper mud, so I may return to that in the near future to do more exploration. Finding deep mud, or even good mud that isn’t full of sticks, logs and other debris is very time consuming, because you can’t tell anything just by looking at it.

Hi Doug, you often visit for sinking and playing in a ,in my opinion, the same mudpit. The mudhole is not so very deep and I like to see you playing in this mud and wearing a sexy outfit.

I’m not sure how to answer this, because I’m not clear on what you are saying. I can say that the spot pictured here isn’t much good for anything except it has a “deep swamp” look to it and it makes some cool bubbling sounds.

I’ll have to keep exploring for some better mud. The old days are not coming back, I’m afraid.
