Yup, that’s right. I went exploring again. This would be day 3 for this general area. Today’s trip was a little shorter than the previous two, but it was even more grueling. I just happened to be traversing the shallow waterways at the lowest tide level and those “shallow” waterways have no bottom. If you’re not standing on a log, you aren’t standing on anything. When the water is too shallow to paddle, I have to hold myself up on my boat so I don’t sink in up to my chest.
Part of the reason for today’s trip was to field test my brand new action cam. All of the video I shot was on the action cam and I recorded it at 4K resolution, 60 frames per second. That’s probably a little extreme, but it was a test after all. Given the intense sun, I probably should have tried the HDR mode to see if the extended dynamic range would have been better at getting shadow detail in the bright sun.
I shot a lot of video, so I had to grab some short sections of a few shots and reduce the resolution to 960×540 in order to have a video file small enough to publish here. I’ll put a longer version in 1080p resolution (1920×1080) on Clips4Sale once I get it edited. That may take a while, I’m actually behind on editing. I have at least 2 mud videos to edit from before today.
Note: If you right-click the video and select the option to open it in a new tab, it will play in it’s full size. This web-site layout squeezes it to a smaller size.
Good morning Doug. Well one thing for sure, no one going to see back in there. Looks like some awesome mud sinking in your future. The video is nice and clear on my system here. Great work as usual, keep it up. I was outback in my spot, chin deep and very thick. With the lack of rain, my spot is really getting thick. Bad part, I pulled my low back in the escape effort. Off to the Chiro. tomorrow for a back work out.
I always pick very private spots because I can’t always be on the lookout for boats. As you know, sometimes I’m tied up and other times, I’m head-first in the mud with my feet sticking up!
There are lots of places where I know there is great mud, but they are visible from navigable waters.
Sorry to hear about your back. I’d recommend back strengthening exercises so you can avoid future injury. I’ve had some pretty bad back injuries and the best thing that came from them was working with a good physical therapist who taught me how to strengthen and balance my body. I thought I was in good shape before that, but I have had no problems since then (keeping fingers crossed).
I am hoping we get a nice rain soon. I need to refill my rain barrel and my pond is dropping fast. I don’t want to return to February when it couldn’t stop raining for 2 consecutive days, but a nice, steady summer rain shower couldn’t hurt. 🙂
Thanks for the feedback on the video. I’m hoping the new action cam pays for itself. I feel like I’m in my twilight years of fetish video production. I keep spending my profits on gear and it’s just getting harder to justify the time I spend. Also, there are only so many ways you can shoot a mud video with a solo actor.
Happy sinking!
