I got off to a late start, again today. I’ve just been busy and some of my swamp trips (including the one I took, today) take 4+ hours and leave me totally exhausted. Today’s trip was special, in that I took some scrap lumber and tools with me to mend my broken “bridge”. That didn’t work out well. I’ll need to rebuild the bridge from new materials, because the mended version still wasn’t strong enough to support my weight.
I paddled my boat over 6 miles (10 km), spent about 2 hours working on my bridge and shooting some video. By the time I got home it was getting dark. I fed and walked my dog, cleaned up my muddy gear and got something to eat, after which I was pretty much done for the day. Some days, I’d stay up late, selecting and editing some frames from the video, editing, compressing and uploading a short vlog clip, and writing a blog entry, but today I’m just writing a blog entry with one image (much faster).
I feel your pain, hate when things dont go as planned. But looks like you did manage to get a bit muddy so not a total loss. The rains have moved back in on my spot and flooding them. So need to let the swamp drain itself back out here. So far its been a good mudding season I think. Im 68 and those long trips like you just made are out of the picture for me. Keep up with the great work.
Oh, I did get muddy. I got muddy collecting the two pieces of the 4×4, putting the bridge in place and trying to repair it. The struggle was real. After the bridge debacle, I flopped into the mud for fun, then I did a really evil bondage scene in some insidious black mud. I’ve been wanting to do the bondage scene for a while, but the location is in plain sight of the creek. I felt pretty safe to do it on a day when I was surrounded by stormy weather and it was about 2 hours to sundown. I hadn’t seen a single boat on the water, since I started my trip, and it really did look like I was going to get pummeled by a thundershower.
My mud pit in the woods has had water on it most days, recently. I’ve been planning a video in the mud pit, but I need to wait until it’s not underwater.
