Just FYI, the quicksand videos are disappearing from my store as each one gets flagged for featuring an actor dying. Today, my Oct 4, 2019 video (“Far Off the Beaten Path”) was removed. A month ago it was “Left to Die”, which had a pretty damning title from a time when these rules didn’t apply.
Now, mind you, the banks are happy to bankroll high budget movies that feature actors getting maimed, mutilated, tortured, raped and brutally murdered, but if I even hint at a nefarious end, the video is banned.
This could go one of two ways: Either the quicksand videos will disappear forever, or I’ll put some of them on PornHub either for purchase or for free viewing. I’m sure PornHub will catch up to C4S soon enough, but it might buy me some time.
As I sit here writing this, it’s obvious that I have never died in one of my clips. It is all just fantasy role playing and it would be perfectly legal for me to do it if I were not selling “adult” content.
Just be warned, this is what the future has in store for us. If you want a collection of quicksand videos, you’d better not waste too much time.
Hello Doug…
Totally ridiculous!!! What the hell does the Bank or any Bank care about this…all they want to do is make money, which, as you point out, they do constantly with the crudest, most annoying films they back. There has to be a way to keep your videos available.
Hello, again, Doug…
Oh, in my haste I forgot to ask if you’d feel comfortable letting us know which Bank or banks are behind this. If any of us do investing, we can always avoid those financial firms.
To address your first message, I believe the banks are concerned about the right wing, evangelical leadership in the US, at this time. I’m pretty sure they don’t really care about the content of my clips.
Regarding which bank, it’s probably VISA, or possibly Mastercard, but it’s not a specific bank. VISA tends to set more draconian rules than MC, in my experience, so I’d put my money on VISA. Clips4Sale doesn’t want to lose their ability to accept common bank cards, so they are forced to comply.
It’s really pretty stupid, since the VISA/MC network has a monopoly on electronic payments, but we’re not going to get any sympathy from the Federal government, as it stands, today. It’s possible that the Supreme Court of the U.S. will be stacked against us for decades to come; especially if our current president gets a 2nd term.
I wonder if there is some way around it, such as customers sending you cash directly via paypal and you emailing them a link where they can download the file?
We’ve already been down that road. It would be a violation of PayPal’s TOS, and any adult payment service will have to abide by the same rules if they accept VISA and MasterCard. The big credit card networks have a virtual monopoly; especially since you lose a huge portion of your customer base if you don’t play by their rules.
I pick my battles. It would be up to Clips4Sale if they wanted to take on VISA. I had tried different ways of selling clips before I landed at Clips4Sale, and I found that C4S made it possible for me to sell clips without dealing with CC/payment details, fraud, or exorbitant annual fees. So, I have to abide by whatever C4S wants to accept.
Then maybe we have to resort to mailing you cash 🙂
I guess if C4S blocks me from selling quicksand videos, I can put teasers on PornHub that don’t end in “drowning”, and attempt to make the full clips available to people who want them.
I was actually thinking I would just change the way I shoot and edit the videos so they don’t end in my apparent demise. I wouldn’t think the banks could complain if I go under just before I find a stout tree branch that I can use to haul myself out. In the past, it’s been an easy editing decision to just cut the video before I resurface, in order to give the illusion of a muddy demise. I’m pretty sure everyone knows it’s an illusion, so I would hope it wouldn’t upset my audience too much if the video doesn’t end there.
