Today was the only day this week I had a good chance of doing something in the swamp. Friday could be an option, but I am scheduled to give blood on Thursday, after which I generally take a day off from hyper physical craziness.
So, the low tide was around 01:00 pm, today, so I headed out around noon. I knew what I wanted to shoot, and I had worked out most of the details, I just needed some cooperation from the elements. The weather was great. The tide was good enough for me to get my shot.
The theme of today’s clip was one of the willing quicksand victim. I strolled deeper and deeper into the mud until the mud swallowed me, completely. I slipped below the surface organically, and without panic, or a struggle.
After I finished the immersion scene, I horsed around a bit. The spot I selected for the immersion was a very deep spot in a large pool of pudding-like mud. I went below the surface, searching the depths for something solid. The deep spot is not very large, but it’s deep enough that I couldn’t reach the bottom. Of course, the fun is in trying to find the bottom when the mud is over my head. Actually finding a bottom isn’t really important.
I wish I could stay and write more about my trip, but I must cut this short. I got some great video, and I’ll be editing it when I get some time. Hopefully, I’ll be back out in the mud, soon. I’ll keep you posted.
Hello Doug…
Looking forward to your next video adventure. We are due for another quarter inch or less of rain tonight and tomorrow.
I sure hope you guys get some good rainfall, and soon. I just finished adding the new clip to my clip store. It was fairly short, so it was a pretty quick edit. I have some additional video I might have to do something with.
I follow a person on Twitter who pouts every time it rains out there. You’d think everyone would celebrate, but I guess some people can’t survive a day without sunshine. We’ve definitely had our share of rainy days, here, this year. We haven’t actually had too much precipitation, though, so I’m not complaining. The early tropical storm was a little annoying, but the 2.5″ of rain she brought was just enough to bring my ponds up to where they should be, going into summer. I worry when things start drying out this early in the year. Spring is supposed to be wet, here.
