The Interview

Posted by on October 26, 2014

2014-10-26_inverview3I recorded an interview, today, that I hope to use in my “Making a Mud Movie” movie. The weather, today, is absolutely lovely. I felt like it would be appropriate to do this interview outdoors, so I made it happen.

I’ll find out how successful I was when I begin to weave the interview into the mass of video clips I have roughly assembled for the documentary. The audio is the most important part, as I won’t be needing much of the video. I already have 21 years of video. I just need a story.

2014-10-26_inverviewI’m really excited about this undertaking. I feel like it’s the culmination of decades of work. It will be the closest thing to a real production that I’ve ever assembled for the mud sinking genre. I think I’d be okay if this was the last mud movie I ever made. It’s going to tell my story, and the story of a swamp clip producer. The swamp is not a friendly place; especially for electronics. The physical effort involved to move my boat, my equipment, and myself into some of the muddiest places in the coastal marsh, and back out, is not trivial. There is no way I’d be making mud movies in the swamp if I didn’t enjoy it a lot.

The goal of my documentary is to talk about the process, my motivation, and a little background about me. I expect to have it done in the next month or so. I can’t wait to share it with all of my mud friends (that’s you).

    Hi Doug
I’m looking forward to seeing this personal account.
I hope it doesn’t herald your from sinking film production in the future.
I like the outfit you’re wearing in the pics. Mesh tees are always a good look
    Best regards
    Andy

Hello, Andy! That mesh tee might make it to the mud, someday, but not until I have an opportunity to wear it a couple of times, at least. I’m glad you like it. It’s great to hear from you.

Do you have an ‘ordinary’ mesh style tee?
It would be hot to see caught in a deadly quicksand trap in one of those

No, I have no other mesh tees. The season is nearly over and I’m broke. I’ll be on the lookout for good deals on wardrobe options during the off-season.

    Hi doug
I sympathise re money this is also a lean time for me
As you know i love any sort of white cotton tee esp if it’s old and worn (and cut off)
Also like the waffle weave and ribbed cotton sort of material
When do you think your vid will be ready for sale?

I’ll keep my eyes open for bargains you might like. As far as a date of completion, it’s really hard to say. The video is coming together, but I might go digging through more archives to give it more depth. I have a couple more videos to release for sale, including one with the cropped white t-shirt and jeans that you might like, but I’m not sure if I’m going to sell the making of a mud movie movie. It is sort of a celebration of how far we’ve come and the hundreds of videos I’ve produced; all thanks to support from you and others like you.

The distribution method has been haunting me. I may not have a good way to put out the HD version, so I might put a low res version on my website and offer the HD version for sale. I want all of my customers to see the video, so I’ll be exploring all my options.
