First, it took most of the day just to get the claypit ready and find someone who could help me with this, rather precarious, setup.
When we were finally ready to shoot, I completely forgot my gag and hood. I feel like I should just shoot the entire thing again, but finding help is nearly impossible and this one actually came out pretty well. If/when I shoot it again, something else will probably go wrong.
Since I had an assistant, I was able to “enjoy” this predicament for over 25 minutes. My helper was also there to lower me into the clay and then to make the chain really tight towards the end. The result was about as close to ideal as I am likely to get without a video crew.
I went on a trash pickup, yesterday on a local creek. The shores of the creek were very muddy and it was low tide, so I ended up destroying a pair of pants in the black, oily mud. I did record some of my adventure on my GoPro, but there was too much trash to just stop and make a mud movie. In retrospect, if I did it right, I might get an innocent bystander to “rescue” me.
I should have a shot at low tide this week if it stops raining long enough. We went from an extended dry spell to what looks like a week of rain, but the rain hasn’t been very heavy. Temperatures are forecast to be about 5C cooler this week, but I can tolerate a little cold; especially if the sun is shining.
Hello Doug…
Great photo of you in the clay pit wearing the red thong. The video of this should be another blockbuster. I’m looking for a time when tides are good and I’m not working on something around the building to go out to the marsh not far from here. I’ll work on that more diligently after I get back from Hendersonville. Leaving tomorrow morning on a early flight. Staying until April 12th. Cheers.
Thanks, Dolphin. You should visit, sometime, when you’re in NC.
