Yesterday was my first trip into the swamp this year. I’m off to a late start, but I’m excited about the future. It was really warm, today. I wish I had had time to go back out on the river. I shot some video of my trip, yesterday. I compiled some of it for my blog (see video, below). The free video doesn’t have the sinking scene, or some bondage play I did on that timber I put across the mud. The sink wasn’t much of a sink. I sank down to about mid-torso before I decided I didn’t really want to go any deeper. I wasn’t sure how cold I was going to get while cleaning up. As it turned out, the cleanup wasn’t that bad and I warmed up pretty quickly in the warm sun, after I got clean and dry.

As a matter of random interest, how far is the swamp (or at least the decent muddy places) from your house? I’ve always wonder how much you have to travel, especially as I’m sure a lot of people are jealous of you apparently having such great mud ‘on your doorstep’ 🙂
The places I go mudding range in distance from a couple miles to 25 miles (3 – 42 km). If I could just trek through the woods, I’m actually very close to one of my swamps, but I have to drive my boat to the nearest suitable launch site.
The place I went to in this video is a 13 mile (22 km) drive and a 2.5 mile (4 km) paddle (one way).
