Early Season Swamp Visit

Posted by on March 7, 2021

It was about 13C (55F) today with a chilling breeze. I really didn’t plan to get muddy, but I wanted to get out on the water for a paddle, at least. The fact that the tide was low just meant I would be able to visually inspect some of my favorite spots along the way.

As it turned out, I stripped out of my warm clothes and waded around in some mud that I knew wasn’t super deep. I figured if I didn’t get too deep into the mud, cleaning up wouldn’t be too much of a chill. The warm sun actually made the entire adventure pleasant when I was fully dressed and quite bearable when I was mostly naked and wet.

I shot both video and some stills. I had a new microphone and wind-screen I had to test, and today the wind was blowing hard enough to give the combination a real world test. I plan to post a 5 minute video in my clip store, but it’s going to be pretty lame for a sinking video, since I only sank up to my crotch and most of the time the mud wasn’t even that deep. The clip should be posted in the next day or two. I’d post it tonight, but I’m ready to call it a day.
