I haven’t had many opportunities to go to the swamp in the past month. As the full moon approached, I was trying to free up some time so I could take advantage of a late afternoon low tide. Friday was my last chance, and I ended up arriving at the water late, with only my JVC camcorder and a small tripod.
When I arrived at the mud, I lost my balance while getting undressed on top of my kayak, and I fell into the muddy water with my shirt and jean shorts still on. I’m sure that would have made a good clip, but nobody was there to capture it on video. Sorry about that.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the tide. The last time I ventured out, the tide didn’t get low enough to play anywhere except in the woods. The tide was lower on Friday, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was still going out, when I arrived at my mudding spot. I had nearly 2 hours to horse around, and the weather was near perfect. I didn’t have much in the way of camera gear, but I recorded everything I could.
While the tide was going out, I explored a little, and set up a half dozen different shots with the camera. Once the tide was at it’s lowest point, and it got pretty low, I went to my really deep mud hole and got completely immersed. I did a little bit of bondage, but mostly, I relished the opportunity to get into some “dangerous” quickmud.
It was a good trip. I survived it with nary a scratch. I got a pretty good sampling of video, although the poor camera got doused in mud a couple of times. I expect to be releasing some new video, in the not too distant future. I’ve been way too busy to do much editing. I hope everyone had a great summer. If it wasn’t great, I hope your future summers improve. For those of you in the southern hemisphere, your summer is just around the corner. I hope it’s as muddy as mine was.
