I risked getting caught in a thunderstorm to take advantage of a full moon low tide on July 21, 2024. I paddled 3.1 miles on the river from the boat launch in the national forest to one of my favorite locations. I had the entire river to myself for the entire, round trip, 6+ mile (10 km) paddle. I did hear one motorboat while I was playing in the mud, but that’s expected on a Sunday. I guess the weather scared off the other boaters. It was hot and the forecast was for sporadic thundershowers. Aside from the heat, it was a beautiful day to be on the water, and the mud was refreshing. I wore my red speedo for my entire adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n

As usual, I had my Lumix camera with me because I get better dynamic range and better audio from it, but I didn’t even take the Lumix out of my backpack. Instead, I recorded everything on my waterproof action-cam, which may not be as high quality, but it gives me more freedom to move around with the camera and get video of more of my activities. I also brought other briefs, but those stayed in my backpack as well.<\/p>\n\n\n

I got in and out of the mud several times, cleaning up in between, so I could make it look like it was my first time in. I cleaned up before my head-first dive, but I had to do some landscaping in the mud before I could do my dive, so I was muddy when I made my dive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
