\"swamp<\/a>The moon was full and I was hoping for one last muddy adventure before the tides slipped into darkness. I expected an exceptionally low tide, but when I arrived at the water, I saw that the prospects were not good. Once I got out onto the water, I encountered a stiff wind, blowing up the channel. I figured it could not hurt to go for a nice paddle and watch the water level, to see if it got low enough for a quick slog in the mud.\"swamp<\/a><\/p>\n

I checked out my most distant mudding spot on my way past in the kayak. I paddled another half mile down the creek, turned around, and returned to the same mudding spot. I saw that the tide level was already increasing, so I jumped in for a 5 or 10 minute sink as the tide water rose to meet me. As you can see from the video frames shown here, the blue sky reflecting off the surface of the mud was rather spectacular. In parts of the video, I look like I was superimposed on the shot, because the warm light of the setting sun is giving my skin a completely different look from the blue reflections on the mud.<\/p>\n

So, playtime was cut short. I got cleaned up and paddled back to the car. The wind died down on my return trip so the water was glassy smooth. It was a really nice evening to be out on the water in a kayak.
